The damage bill from last week's storms in south-west Victoria is expected to total more than $1 million.
The principal of Hamilton Insurance Services, Barry Williams, says the heavy rain and hail during the storm flooded houses and damaged cars.
He says while the cost of the storm is considerable, it should not lead to an increase in insurance premiums.
"This was probably [a] one in a 25, one in a 30 year situation and it was particularly heavy, it was a tropical downpour in actual fact...it was associated with hail...the hail's blocked up a lot of spouts, damaged a lot of cars," he said.
