There is a moderate chance of a Mediterranean Vortex (basically a European Hurricane) developing in the Adriatic Sea between Italy and Yugoslavia later this evening.
The Vortex is expected to develop around 10pm this evening UK time around the area of Split, Yugoslavia. The system will then run down the coast of Yugoslavia before pushing out into the Adriatic around the Bari area and intensifying bringing a chance of hurricane force winds and torrential rainfall."
I've seen sat images of when this happened in 1995 I think. It looked very much like a hurricane. Will be interesting to see if anything happens in the next few hours. I'm told that low level circulation is being picked up just north of the Adriatic so this could get interesting.
