Atlantic wakes up for NW Europe

#1 Postby stu » Tue Oct 28, 2003 5:54 pm

After weeks of high pressure model runs are showing some fairly feisty Atlantic depressions to affect NW Europe of the next few days with the Azores high sinking south west.

12Z UKMO issued prog 966mb Devon

12Z GFS 967mb Devon

12ZJapanese 973mb SW UK interpolated

12Z German 967mb NW of Cornwall

00Z NOGAPS 976mb NW of Cornwall (00Z run)

12Z ECMWF 979mb SW UK interpolated (12 Z run yesterday)

12Z USAF Sembach 970mb Cornwall

12Z Canadian 969mb Southern England

(Both Cornwall and Devon are counties in south west England)

Finally we will have some rain from some very parched – almost drought parts of the United Kingdom. Perhaps some gales /severe gales?? It IS that time of year again and we brits do remember October 1987 and October last year.

Autumn (fall) will arrive in the next 36 hours and it will be a shock to many.

Glad to hear that the dry spell stopped there.
