A blizzard hit Beijing Thursday night, breaking branches still bearing green leaves and bringing traffic to a standstill. The government mobilized 8,000 workers to shovel snow. The State Meteorological Observatory said temperatures will drop by an average 8 to 10 C across most of North China from Friday.
