Wet and windy in UK

#1 Postby Gord_on_snow » Sun Feb 01, 2004 4:30 pm

After the snow and low temps last week. It's back to autumn for the UK now. Wet and windy weather has been sweeping the country with local flooding and damaging winds reported. Temps are again widely in double figures and there are questions being asked if that is it for winter this year.

Personally, i don't think so.

That is temperatures are in double digits, Celsius..... over 10°C, which is over 50°F :D

Enjoy the "warmer winter weather." :)

Would love to enjoy the high temps Justin. If only it wasn't so wet and windy to go with it!!

Believe me, us weather fans in the Uk are waiting longingly for the prolonged severe cold spell that we yearn to get year after year after year, (and if you are a UK visitor to this board, add as many years as you think appropiate).

Though to be honest, this week and the high temps will cause some interest.

17.9C was recorded at Gravesend in Kent in southeast England today. Feels very Springlike out there at the moment.

However, a very dramatic change is on the way. Looking like that by saturday we will be back down to nearer 2C again as a brief artic blast hits the UK. It may bring snow to Scotland and some coastal areas of England, including where i am if the wind can get to me from the correct angle. this is one worth watching and tha change from mild to cold is set to be very quick. Then it looks like it will turn mild again from Monday. The UK weather roller coaster continues!........

A positively balmy 16.6C at Heathrow International recorded on Feb 4th... showery but undeniably balmy.

62°F does indeed sound balmy for the Heathrow Airport in February. :)

Been some severe flooding over north Wales and North West England this week. At one point this week there were over 100 flood watches issued for the UK.

Today saw a band of thunderstorms over southern Scotland which bought about some exciting reports from members on UK weather sites.Quite unseasonal now. Although today felt a bit more normal for February..but still mild.

But tomorrow night, the 2 day cold blast from the north will arrive, bringing some snow to some parts of the UK. Hard to say where at this time, but Scotland is looking very likely. Next week looks like going back to the mild wet and windy theme..which will not help the flood problems at all.
