TEHRAN (AFP) - Eight people were killed in flash floods when a river burst its banks in western Iran's Kermanshah province, the official state news agency IRNA reported.
"Heavy torrential rain caused the Deleshir river's banks to burst, resulting in the deaths of eight of Banihavan-Elyasi villagers who were standing in the vicinity," senior regional official Heydar Khodayari was quoted as saying Sunday.
"Six bodies have been recovered so far and the search by the Red Crescent as well as police and the natural disasters offices in the province is going on to find the remaining two bodies."
In January six people were reported dead in flash floods in the southern province of Fars.
