Last week there was a tsunami-like wave on the mediterrainean island of Menorca, destroying many boats. Seems this time it was the second time in just a few days that such a wave crashed onto a coast.

I was reading about that on one of the UK forums, very interesting in that case. A 4 metre wave I think it was in that case. http://www.net-weather.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=30761&st=0

According to the LA Times, it was a very strong storm off the coast of South America last week. I doubt you could find it now - if it still exists it's over the Indian Ocean. They didn't say it was a temperate storm but there haven't been any tropical whoppers this week. This was a big storm-hurricane force winds, typically occuring only a few times a year.
