I've always wondered why Indonesia always has the highest amount of people effected by every monthly disaster but I checked the population and was stunned to find over 220,000,000 people live there. I have a book from 1997 that shows a population of 191,000,000. That's around 30 million more people in a decade!! I never knew so many people lived there but it explains why every little disaster causes huge tolls.

El Nino is breaking down
another month or so and be dead
also el nino doesn't mean that it doesn't rain for Indonesia just that the monsoon arrives late
i.e look at 1997. thousands of hectares of rainforest's went up in smoke and much of SE asia was under thick smoke and the civilians in those countries had to wear face masks so they could breathe

It seems the water isn't rising anymore, but 44 people have been killed and there are still 340.000 people who have been displaced by the flooding.
I hope officials now understand it's vital that the mountains surrounding Jakarta need to be covered with forests. If they continue the deforestation in the Jakarta region, these floods will only become more frequent and deadlier.
