Hello tbstorm ! yes indeed in the south west of France every year we have many sever thunderstorm. I puts to you some photographs of thunderstorms close to Toulouse.

Great photos.

i remember seeing a fantatsic storm when i was in Limoges a couple of years ago.

Also remember as a kid when severe storms would develop over central France during the afternoon and drift northwards to get to me in England during the night. Don't see that so often anymore, they have trouble keeping going over the English Channel these days. Though we're getting fairly good at our own homegrown summer storms in the UK!
