The wattage recommendations depend on how much you want to run under the generator. Keep in mind the more you run the more gas you'll need to keep it running.

I purchased the 12KW Briggs and Statton a couple of years ago. My house is about 3000 sf --- the 12KW will not handle my air conditioner, but it will handle all the 110s. I will be able to use all lights, fans, refrigerator, freezer, TV's etc. I won't be able to use the stove, oven or dryer --- so I'll use the toaster oven and microwave. I then purchased a large roll around air conditioner that uses 110. I couldn't rationalize the extra money for a larger generator just for air conditioning since the roll around air conditioner works so well. ----- Also, I have the roll around unit in the event my central air conditioner breaks in the middle of the summer.
