This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

just looking at the latest IR imagery, Kat's moisture envelope is increasing and looks like once she gets back to the SE GOM she is going to light up some fireworks!

i edited for correctness, it is important and yes eventually guess it could track to the SW GOM but highly unlikely. the curve and where will be essential.

I was just looking at the WV loop and IMHO she will start to feel some shear fairly soon from the north but I haven't heard anyone else saying anything about that yet.

Shear has been forcast to be in a favorable state for the next 72 hrs.

I think we all know. Just this storm has become somewhat unpredictable, so no one knows what is next.

i still see problems in the north semi but all in all a rapid intensification to cat 4 is possible.......but, as always, not likely

Certainly looks like it's being sheared from the north to me, check out the radar and watch all the deep convention disappearing north of the center.

and shear / dry air doesn't mean a think once it gets back over the gulf. At that point, say goodbye to shear and dry air.

I'd say wind shear ahead looks pretty low, if I am reading this right:

Sorry for our brethren in the panhandle, but I can easily see a Cat 3 before landfall. The SSTs are warm enough and without any shear it has two full days to wind up.
