expect Contraflow to begin at 4p.m. CDT. Mayor Blanco is waiting for the 10a.m. advisory, however, it should begin this afternoon. (Per WWL 870AM, New Orleans)

Can only imagine the chaos that is begining to happen in NOLA.
God's speed Y'all.

It's always best to errr on the side of safety for life.
The flooding potential alone makes evacuation a necessity in New Orleans.

Stay focused and calm.

I can imagine the chaos.....gas lines etc. I'm supposed to go to Pensacola today for a wedding. Which way would most people travel if they're evacuating NO? North, east, or west?

Just talked to the nephew in NO. He was pretty laidback - sayin the local news is telling them no one knows where Katrina is going, that if she keeps going straight she will hit TX/MX border...

He's on his way to get gas now tho. I hope he at least gets his stuff together so he can leave at a moments notice...

As far as which way people evac NO... from what the nephew has done, they either go west (towards Houston) or due north. Depending on hotel avail, I've heard of people going all the way to Arkasas or west over to Dallas ... alot of people who haven't left yet have already booked motel rooms.

The news channels so far seem to be downplaying this for the NO area.....people are VERY complacent. They saw much more panic from them last year for Ivan which was NEVER forecast to come to us.
It's nuts....it's all political
