I certainly feel horrible for those who feel like they have no means of evac'ing, but the ones who just want to ride out a monster like this, are the very ones who will be pleading with 911 operators to send someone to come and save their tails once Katrina gets cranking closer to land. I am very fearful we are going to be looking at a record number of lives lost if this thing doesn't do some drastic change in intensity or direction.

I doubt that whoever is replying like that is really in New Orleans or wherever they say they are...
As far as the people who haven't left...I think there are some reasonable reasons why some tourists, etc can't get out of NO. I'm not going to condemn them, and I don't expect them to just up and start walking out of the city.
Also, I'm not going to deny sympathy to the people who don't leave because they don't know any better.
