Reporting in while I still have power

#1 Postby HollynLA » Mon Aug 29, 2005 5:51 am

I am now in lower Livingston parish which is about 40 miles NNW of New Orleans. Since about 4:30, the winds have been picking up alot and it keeps coming in stronger. We can hear it on the house and there are already tree limbs down in the yard. Now just think, the eye *just* touched land and we are on the furthest northwest quadrant as of right now and it's getting this bad, I can't imagine how it's going to be in a few hours when the eye gets closer. power should be going out any minute now.

Stay safe, Holly. Do you have a room to retreat to without windows in it as things get worse?

yes, otherwise referred to as the hallway. We have our sofa pressed against the front door to keep it shut, it keeps blowing open. I can only imagine what it's like in the lower parishes right now.

Bring a mattress with you into the hallway to get under if you have to. I'm serious.

Stay Safe! Let us know if you are able to get back online. Be very careful. I'm praying for you and your family.
