Katrina Refugees in your town? Help Them...

There are a lot of posts from those outside the area wanting to help Katrina victims. The people who evacuated as requested are also victims and many of them must be feeling awful, helpless, etc. and they are almost certainly running short of money, tired of living on fast food, etc.

It might be a kindness for those of you who know of evacuees in hotels, motels etc. in your town to perhaps take them a plate of brownies or a home-cooked casserole and some paper plates, etc. to eat it or something that simple. Perhaps some children's books to help them keep their kids amused and from worrying too much. And of course, for those who are returning home to no home, they, too, will need some of those donations of clothing, etc. that people collect but don't have a distribution mechanism for.

I'm guessing that this might be a time for "little kindnesses."

Perfect, how about we go beyond "little," these poor poor people need us.
