New director already named - David Paulison.
He's former Dade County fire chief, and I know some guys who served with him when he ran Dade County USAR.
Excellent choice, IMHO.

I still don't really get what FEMA is all about.
During the hurricanes here in Florida last year, FEMA paid a guy I know $19,000 to repair an uninsured pole barn. Another guy who had bought a generator prior to the hurricanes, which didn't hurt his wallet, turned in a receipt for the generator after the dang hurricanes and was reimbursed. I just don't get that. Is the Federal Government to provide every single American a generator in time of need?
I use to think FEMA was kind of a general coordinator of disaster relief, not a first line provider of relief nor a Federally Tax funded insurance program. They provide housing for those that lose homes, reimburse for losses which insurance should cover, I even heard Mr. Brown say they had tractor trailers full of ice! The Federal Government is now providing ice! I don't get it.
I pay alot for FLOOD and WINDSTORM for my home and business. I have had a generator for years for my business (just in case). Not that everyone can provide for themselves but the VAST MAJORITY could if they would.
FEMA? What the heck is that organization about when we have the National Guard, Red Cross, Salvation Army and a whole host of other disaster relief organizations.
Ah heck, the whole dang world seems to be going to hell in a hand basket.
