#1 Postby Houston_Tempest » Sun Sep 18, 2005 7:22 pm

Since it looks like we might need this in the next month or so, here ya go

Alpha
Beta
Gamma
Delta
Epsilon
Zeta
Eta
Theta
Iota
Kappa
Lambda
Mu
Nu
Xi
Omicron
Pi
Rho
Sigma
Tau
Upsilon
Phi
Chi
Psi
Omega

Now let's see how far the list we will get (for fun..like a guessing game)

I say we get all the way to Delta.

Alpha or Beta will be as far as we get, if we get there at all.

Now that's pessimistic!

Since 1995 we've seen an average of 5.2 named storms after this date, as well as a median of 5.5. 1997 and 2002 saw 2, but that was because they were El Nino years. Eliminating them gives us an average of 6 storms after this date. This will bring us to Beta, with a possibility of being up to Delta.

One thing is for certain: Beta is, of course, a fish.

The climo-curve (takes the activity so far this season and projects it through the rest of the season based on the amount of that activity) is thinking Delta. (Of course, the climo-curve isn't the best, especially if we have a large batch of activity (4-5 named storms at the same time) or a lull within the next few weeks)

I'd like to see the TV talking heads try to pronounce "Xi."

Not looking forward to "Hurricane Omega".

That's what they'll name the next sci-fi megahurricane disaster movie they're sure to make, won't they?

 :(
