Got a stupid question-but need advice.
I work at the mall in Houma. The mall closed today at 6. But, not Sears. They are not closing until normal closing time of 9 p.m. tonite. That is not the problem because I got off at 5. I am scheduled to work tomorrow 11-4. I called them about an hour ago asking if I would still have to work my normal shift tomorrow. And they said yes, they are keeping normal store hours tomorrow 10-9!!! Do you think I should just call in? I rarely ever call in unless I feel the need to. But, I think we will at least be getting tropical storm force winds rolling in by then. And Houma floods bad. They did not close when Cindy hit. And I had to drive around in gusty winds shaking my car and tree limbs falling and hitting my car. It was scary. My dad urges me to call in. I think I will play it by ear and see what happens tomorrow morning. If you were me what would you do? I don't think we will have hardly any customers, so I just think it is crazy! The whole mall is going to be closed, but not us!

Wow, that seems crazy they would even be open. You should be at home doing last minute preperations, just in case. And the whole driving in unexpected conditions thing is nuts too. YES call in. I would for sure. Like what was already said, you can always get another job. And I think your dad is right. Father knows best.

They just don't think the conditions will be that bad to close the store. Even though, it is stupid because the mall is closed but us. I mean if I wake up and it is really that bad, I will call in. I don't like driving in bad weather. Even a heavy thunderstorm, makes me nervous especially when I can't see. I don't think that many customers will be braving the squalls to go shopping for clothes and shoes. But, I guess they care about the almighty dollar. We are open for Easter, Thanksgiving and Mardi Gras as well. They won't close unless a Cat 5 is barreling down and Houma is the bullseye. For Katrina, we were the last ones to close. At first, I did not think we were going to close at all.
