Last year for Charley, my husband and I took out $300 in cash prior to the storm. There is just the two of us. In retrospect, I'm wondering if that was enough $$$. For those of ya'll who had to go though the days after a storm, how much cash on hand do you think is enough?

I think if I had to do it over again, and if I had known that our bank would almost be wiped out, I think I would take everything I could out and take it with me...at least $1000, but then, we have 5 people in our family plus tons of pets and we took both cars, so we needed alot more than we thought!
You can always re-deposit the money back into your account if nothing happens, but if your bank is blown away it will take a while to get to your money if you don't take it out before the storm. The worst part was not knowing when or IF we'd ever even see any of our money- and we didn't know when either of us would be back at work to even earn any more money. Scary times, indeed.

Wilma is looking very ominous today.

I'm starting to panic some ....

I don't think it's hit alot of people in S. Florida yet but this is going to hit the peninsula VERY hard IMHO.

I have no clue.

Frances, Jeanne, Dennis, and Rita. Ugh.

3 of the 4 listed above hit in the middle of the night... maybe at least this will come in during the day.

I live on the NE coast of Florida, but I figured I would play it safe and pick up more water and candles. I went to a super walmart and it was dead. My hubby called me when I was in line to ask me what is going on with the storm (he is a builder) and I told him what was going on the lady behind me heard and asked what I was talking about. she didn't have a clue. People don't pay attention till it is to late.

My dh's co-worker is getting married at his house out in Jupiter Farms on Sunday afternoon. Think it will still go on? I wonder if they have a "Plan B" I will feel really sorry for them if they have to cancel

Panic will increase dramatically tonight and tomorrow morning when this thing reaches Cat 3 or perhaps 4 intensity.

I'm expecting full-blown panic to set in tomorrow. The TV mets will have to speak more certainly tonight, as it's becoming obvious that Wilma WILL be a Florida peninsular threat of some sort. That will set people off and the races will start tomorrow. I'll be done tonight. :)
