Im predicting this is 6-12 hours...

#1 Postby Anonymous » Thu Oct 20, 2005 4:58 am

Hurricane Katrina had a very large eye after undergoing an eyewall replacement cycle in the Gulf of Mexico on August 28...and became an annular hurricane. While Hurricane Wilma might not become an annular hurricane, I expect it to have a large eye similar to Katrina's...and I expect it to happen in the next 6-12 hours.

The same thing that occured with Katrina is occuring with Wilma. The small inner eye is dissipating...here is an image of Katrina's eye dissipating...

and Wilma's eye dissipating...

Then we see a new ring take shape:::

Wilma...

Eventually...in the next 6-12 hours, I am forecasting something like this (EYE-WISE...NOT STRUCTURE):::

I expect in 12 hours that this new eye will pop out as you say. In it will likely tighten. It has went from 40 nmi to 35 nmi wide over the last recon vortex. The temperature inside to outside is now 6 degrees. This could make Katrina's eye look like childs play.

5am Disco calls for the eye to grow from 4nm to 40nm wide with this cycle. That's an enormous change.

I was thinking this too!

Then imagine what will happen if the 40nm eye contracts.

Sub 870mb IMO.
