Katrina isnt person of the year just because it was a disaster. Katrina uncovered flaws, in society, gov't and more. there were political backlashes, panic, and the eye-opening of an entire nation, sorry to say, but one that began to assume a mindet of being 'untouchable'.

Katrina wasnt just a natural disaster. Katrina didnt just kill people. She went way beyond that.

Agree with you 100%. Katrina uncovered flaws in our evacuation, planning, and levee systems. She also uncovered corruption and ignorance in government of local, state and federal levels. Still, to this day, she has left many without a home to go back to. Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines and Lower Jefferson Parish, along with much of Coastal Mississippi are still ghost towns. Because of Katrina and the investigations going in to the handling of this storm, hopefully we will better learn how to handle the next one.

Katrina:she wasn't your average storm instead she exposed realty vs rethoric.we are not ready for a terrorist attack in nyc.#2 the levees were faulty design.FEMA is giving wasteful contracts for too much.the aftermath just goes on and on with plenty of finger pointing when people instead need help rebuilding their homes

I totally agree. It wasn't JUST a storm, it exposed lots of things and was a big wake up call for alot of people in this nation in terms of poverty.

Katrina as the back drop, but I think the Reserve hurricane hunters should get the vote.... Lets face it, they were flying through the storm at the time their home and base were being destroyed and they knew it was going to be bad... they of course could not know how bad at the time... Secondary, would be the NHC IMO..
