In what's left of our gutted kitchen, I am thankful that my wonderful wife gathered the resources necessary to prepare a great thanksgiving meal today. Even though she has no cabinets, no countertops (everything's now on folding tables), and a barely-working gas range, she still was able to work a miracle in that kitchen today. And in the middle of all this, she braved a trip to Wal-Mart to replace her flooded mixer that we forgot got thrown out with all the other gunked up stuff.

Soon, I hope, we'll have the insulation, sheetrock, cabinets, and appliances back in service. But for now, it's still stud walls and bare floors. One step at a time and patience to match - that's our favorite new motto...

I'm also thankful for all the prayers and thoughts many of you provided for me and mine during and after Katrina. Just knowing there are folks out there who sincerely have us on thier minds helps greatly.
