He was not only a great meteorologist, but his warm, caring attitude always made me feel like I was listening to advice from a close, respected relative.

He was like that in many households during that 20 year period. I only wish he was here to witness Katrina, what he might have said.

Ditto those sentiments... in fact, I'd like to have heard what he'd have said about the entire last two incredible seasons.

Me too, but maybe it's a blessing he wasn't here to see them.

Its been 4 years already. I remember when it was announced that John passed away. That was a very sad day... The Tropical Discussions/ (updates on TWC) have never been the same.

His ability to discuss the tropics so 'street folk' could understand was outstanding... He is more so on the line with Ted Fujita, Dr. Gray and Dr. Sheets.... people that have perfected the skill of meteorology.

He is definitely missed. John was THE best.

I agree completely with the comments here. I only saw Mr. Hope a few times on TWC but he really did some nice tropical updates. RIP John Hope.

Being one of the older members here I remember Hope from his days at NHC. Never met the man in person but he was a part of my life for a long time.
