You'll be surprised. But it's on.

I've been reading about this invisibility cloak recently as well. It seems that there are actually stories about two different types of "invisibility cloak" out there. One is about a University of Tokyo group that has demonstrated a translucent cloak of sorts, but when you look at what they did in more detail, it turns out it is really an elaborate camera and projection trick, whereby the viewer has to be in a specific location to see the translucency effect. One article I read claimed that you can achieve much the same effect by holding a laptop screen in front of your body that is displaying an image from a webcam attached to your back! However, the other articles are discussing something far more interesting (potentially) where some researchers have claimed to have found a way to create a material that ducts light waves coming from any angle all the way around an object to be released on the opposite side. Obviously it remains to be seen if such a thing is possible or practical.
