What's the weather like after hurricane passes?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Hot & Muggy. And if you live by a creek, river or other body of water that has come up to say hello to your front porch, its smelly from the fish that don't wash back out.

Right after Rita it was cool enough for a jacket and still misting rain, the next day was miserable, HOT and HUMID - we were lucky enough to be able to jump in the lake and stay there!!! No power for weeks! Evacuated from our original place that we evacuated to and praying for gasoline pumps to be on further up North of Woodville TX - found some gas in Lufkin at 2am on my way to Fort Worth.

As someone above stated; it depends on the situation. My times after storms were as follows:

Bertha----Hot and very humid for days (Bertha hit us in July)
Fran-----Even more Hot and humid than Bertha. We did have a few afternoon t-storms that helped (Both storms hit us in '96) Fran was early September
Bonnie----An August storm that hit us in '98. Again hot and humid, very humid
Dennis----Got this one during Labor Day week. It hung off our coast (NC) for a week. It zigged and zagged and finally came back in a week later. Was cool and humid after this one.
Floyd---WE got Floyd about 3 weeks after Dennis. Big rain maker and was comfortable afterwards. Of course the flooding that took place will never be forgotten. We got between 25 and 30 inches

Seems to me that high pressure usually settles in afterward, at least for the first couple of days, making it dry and pleasant in the fall months or very hot and calm in the summer months.

Oh wait, I meant high blood pressure settles in for the first couple of days.

It is hot, hot, hot. After Katrina came through last year...man, that was the nastiest heat and humidity I've ever witnessed. Slightly worse than after Andrew, which was pretty bad in its own right.

Wilma was the exception to the rule. That very strong cold front made the ensuing lack of power almost pleasant. I certainly wouldn't bet on that in the event of future landfalls.....maybe in late October and November, perhaps. Not in Florida in August or September.

When Gaston and Charley came through it was cooler, actually. And still. All the neighbors came out from their homes to check out the situation. Don't plan on going anywhere soon though. The roads were flooded and trees blocked the exit from my neighborhood.
