Area East of Helene could that effect her steering pattern

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I just saw on the sat picture the area east of Helene embedded in Helene eastern circulation a flare up of thunderstorms I'm confussed is that part of Helene or a new entity.

It looks to be a separate entity. It looks good this morning, but it is very close to Helene.

i believe that it was the part of the system that came off of Africa yesterday. last night, it seemed as if that wave was being absorbed, but part of it survived. i believe that what you are talking about is the other part.

Yes, I've been keeping an eye on that new system, and yesterday it seemed to sort of throw out a big blob of convection far to its west, and it appeared that Helene grabbed it:

I suppose this could be it.
