I'm not sure if the Canary Islands ever did advisories for this system..but I found this on some internet site a short while ago..which is pretty good news for the Azores.
""A weakened Hurricane Gordon has passed Portugal's Azores Islands in mid-Atlantic, causing little of the damage initially forecast. The hurricane's centre "passed further south than forecast", sparing western and central islands in the Azores archipelago, weather officials said."
Damage did cause toppled trees and disruption of the electricity network.
But, what is a hurricane doing towards this side of the Atlantic ocean and, heaven forbid, what if it had decided to pass even further south than forecast? ""

EXTRA-TROPICAL storm Gordon lashed northwest Spain and Portugal, injuring a policeman and cutting power to 29,000 homes.
Winds gusting up to 180km/h forced the closure of 2000 schools, blocked highways with dozens of fallen trees and damaged power lines in the Galicia region.
Construction cranes and lampposts were blown over in the La Coruna area. Flights were cancelled or delayed in the cities of Santiago de Compostella and La Coruna.
A policeman was injured in Arteixo when a tree fell on his car.
Much of Portugal suffered heavy rain and high winds, causing long delays on roads and a 14-car pile up in the Lisbon area.
Emergency authorities in Galicia said the storm was milder than initially feared but they remained on red alert because torrential rain is set to follow the high winds.
Last year a tropical storm with winds of 140km/h killed seven people in Spain's Canary Islands and left hundreds of thousands without electricity.
The southerly wind flow due to GORDON pumped up unseasonably warm weather into Southern England on Thursday. London MET Office reached a warm 28.6C 84F , and Heathrow International 28C 82F.
LA GUARDIA - Cyclone Gordon, downgraded to an extra-tropical storm, has buffeted northwestern Spain but caused no major damage.
Gordon hit landfall in the Spanish coastal region of Galicia - ravaged by fires only last month - at around 6:00 am (0400 GMT), bringing heavy rain and local gusts of up to 140 kilometres an hour, Spanish media reported.
By 8:00 am, the wind and rain had eased off but out to sea a heavy swell remained. One man was injured after a tree fell on his car. Material damage was minor with some secondary roads blocked.
All airports in Galicia had been closed as a precaution, leading to 12 flight cancellations by midday. Local schools were also closed for the day. Airports in other areas of northwest Spain - Santander, Bilbao, Vitoria, Saint-Sebastian et Oviedo - had been placed on alert and were reporting disruptions, Spanish authorities said.
The Spanish meteorological office said that heavy rains were expected during the day, and 12 regions in western and central Spain were put on alert.
Gordon had initially been expected to hit the Azores as a Category 2 hurricane, but was downgraded to Category 1 on Wednesday and then to an extra-tropical storm as it passed the mid-Atlantic archipelago.
After Spain it was expected to head next towards areas of Britain, Ireland and Scotland, bringing wet and windy conditions to the Ryder Cup golf tournament between Europe and the United States in western Ireland.
