El Nino no enhanced rainfall for Florida

#1 Postby boca » Mon Nov 27, 2006 8:57 pm

Fronts are forecasts to stall out in North Florida because of the strong subtropical ridge. This is the same as it was last fall going into winter. Who says El nino means a wetter and cooler pattern for Florida, I don't believe it anymore.

Read the previous posts. El nino effects don't usually occur till Dec-Jan. So be patient. Not all El Nino's are the same it's just a better possibilty.

I don't know - so far, with the exception of the record rainfall in the Pacific northwest, there is really little sign of an El Nino event - the current pattern is more similar to a negative El Nino pattern, if anything.

The El Nino pattern was very evident during the summer - now, however...

Usually during El Nino events the Pacific NW is drier than normal. Not this fall so far. That's why I'm not reading too much into this EL Nino episode. I think for hurricane season for 2007 we will be back to nuetral conditions.
