First typhoon of 2007 brewing. 01W.

According to the global models over the past couple of days we may have a tropical cyclone developing in the northwest pacific. There is a monsoon type flareup near the equator and longitude 155E. The track of this system looks like it could come close to Guam, this wouldn't be that unusual for this time of year. Tropical cyclones that form during the spring months frequently threaten the Marina Islands.

92W has been around a couple of days. The JMA does not yet list it as a low pressure area however. We'll have to wait and see.

Hey Jim - JAL has a $2,200 roundtrip (Miami/Guam) fare through Expedia.com...haha. :D

As an aside, that's Mariana Islands. This is the time of year when you can get storm pairs on both sides of the equator in the Pacific.
