Hurricane Dog (1950)=Annular Hurricane
Hurricane Dog of 1950 was a very powerful and possibly large hurricane. I tend to believe it had winds no more than 165 mph, even though it is listed as 185 mph. I know it stayed as a Category 5 hurricane for the longest in the Atlantic consectively, despite the fact that Allen was Category 5 for the longest, but that was off and on. I wonder if Hurricane Dog could be an annular hurricane? Annular hurricanes tend tp maintain their strength longer than a non-annular hurricane. Also they have large eyes and lack of outer raindbands. I am aware that annular hurricane is thrown around a lot, which was the case with Katrina.

An annular hurricane is a tropical cyclone in the Atlantic or Eastern Pacific oceans that features a large, symmetric eye surrounded by a thick ring of intense convection. This type of storm is not prone to the fluctuations in intensity associated with eyewall replacement cycles, unlike typical intense tropical cyclones. Forecasters have difficulty predicting the behavior of annular hurricanes; they are a recently recognized phenomenon, and as such, little is known about their tendencies. Because of this, they can be more dangerous than typical hurricanes.
