I got an NWS report of recommendations for the WMO conference (currently wrapping up) and it has a lot of interesting, and questionable, retirements:
Recommend retirement of tropical cyclone names Daniel, Emilia, Estelle, Fabio, Fausto, Fernanda, Gil, Gilma, Guillermo, Jimena, John, Jova, and Kenneth from the East Pacific list
http://www.ofcm.gov/homepage/text/spc_p ... -items.pdf
Ioke will also be retired according to that, despite the fact the areas affected were uninhabited.
NO Atlantic retirements planned by the US for 2006.

Not sure about the retirement of Ioke, would leave it in personally.
Yeah I'm waiting on the 2007 op manual as I thought there would be changes to the MINIOB format with the SFMR being introduced. Will need to update the thread when it is out.
Also of note is what appears to be a withdrawal of AFWA sat fixes (Point 12).

Derek Ortt wrote:John probably should be retired. Ioke is borderline, but the CAPC may ahve different standards (since the name would not repeat for ~50 years anyways)
Kenneth is also borderline, along with Lane
Agreed with you, I would retire Ioke though - and those you mentioned - but none of the others. Lane is not mentioned as Mexico would be the only one with a case there.
