If I remain in Miami past the early summer, my evac is TO the Ricnekbacker Causeway. Where I rode out Katrina and Wilma. If it ever became too bad (and by that I mean a real chance at a cat 5), probably to KW, since it would be a very last minute decision and that would be my only option, to head SW

m not in an evac zone so I'm supposed to stay put and ride it out. The oak trees have been trimmed away from the house. Have supplies. My only problem is my car. It wouldn't be safe. I've racked my brain trying to figure out where to store it, but then if we have a flooding problem I would be without transport. Any ideas? I've thought about taking it to a hospital and park it in the garage.

i know thats your job Derek, but WOW thats just nuts. i remember reading that you were at Rickenbacker for Katrina here and I couldn't believe it. We had Wilma's eyewall in coral springs and it was the worst wind/weather I've ever experienced. My dear wife called me to the window in the eye and said something like "Well you finally got your hurricane, next time can we please leave?" This was as I noticed that every powerline was down, trees on top of cars and in the building across the way, debris EVERYwhere, and so eerily calm.

My sister-in-law had told us once that the Mayor had said everything north of City Hall on Broad street go North and everything South of City Hall is to go South (this was supposed to be part of the city planning for disasters)..I'm still trying to find something on writing on this as technically we don't have evacuation routes here.
