I would ride out any hurricane! I built my home to withstand a 5 and i trust it.

Please impart more information concerning this. I and many others in danger zones I think would be most interested in how this is done, costs, etc. that can give one such confidence in their abode in this type of situation. IMO, from information I have seen in the past concerning this type of construction, most would find it cost prohibitive to embark on this route to safety, though I think we would all like to be able to. I would presume you do not live in a surge or flood zone since you say you would stay for anything.

I'm about 20 miles from the Gulf and 10 miles from the Bay, so I'd probably stay for a Cat 4 and let the others have the highway. It's easy to say you'd do something before the situation ever arises and you're looking down the barrel of a gun though. Ivan had me worried for a while when he got that buzzsaw look SW of LA - before he weakened - but I'd already decided to stay...so I don't think I'd chicken out over anything less.
