Florida potential tropical thread
I'm starting this thread so if people see rain on the horizon from a tropical wave or more post on this thread because Florida is in a servere drought and Lake Okeechobee is at 9.66ft, normal is 15ft. This pattern is unfortuneate and becoming ridiculous.

Unfortunately, most convective avtivity has been isolated. In addition, the greatest low-level dynamics (and greatest convective concentration) has occurred inland over the southern peninsula. A lightning strike sparked a 1,300-acre fire one day ago. It was quickly extinguished today but the rate of spreading was impressive.
Most short-range indicators support the synopsis that south Florida will rely on isolated convection. This will not put the slightest dent in overall drought conditions.

I couldn't agree more. That low that the models are picking up on that will form by Hatteras,NC will funnel dry air down the state which hopefully will form further south and move west ,but this time of year the westerlies will push the system eventually NE. I'm watching the Caribbean for possible development next week.

The Talkin Tropics forum is for discussion on Tropical Depression and Hurricanes. This is not the Florida weather forum. If anyone wants to discuss a drought or possible rain they need to post in the USA or Global Weather forums. This issue has been brought up before and we don't want to have to take action but will do more than just move the threads if they continue. If anyone has a problem with this contact a staff member.
