9 Forthcoming Updated Forecasts of 2007 Hurricane Activity



We will be issuing seasonal updates of our 2007 Atlantic basin hurricane forecasts on Thursday 31 May (to coincide with the official start of the 2007 hurricane season on 1 June), Friday 3 August, Tuesday 4 September and Tuesday 2 October 2007. The 3 August, 4 September and 2 October forecasts will include separate forecasts of August-only, September-only and October-only Atlantic basin tropical cyclone activity. A verification and discussion of all 2007 forecasts will be issued in late November 2007. Our first seasonal hurricane forecast for the 2008 hurricane season will be issued in early December 2007. Last year's forecast was just awful(talking about the original forecast, not the updated). It failed so badly, conditions changed so quickly(el nino) that it makes it difficult to have a lot of confidence in these forecasts.

I agree with your statement however last year they took for granted that there would be no El nino and guess what!

I think this year they have a better handle and are looking alot more in depth a the data for indicators that maybe theywere

a little lax on last year.
