During the summer I will be doing an internship in the HRD building in Virginia Key, FL. Oceanographer Gustavo Goni will be my mentor. The proyect will be based on tropical cyclones in the Southern Hemisphere. Dr. Goni will provide me with the ocean temperatures and my job will be to find tropical cyclones over the past that have showed a rapid increase in intensity and it could have been because the cyclone moved over warmer waters. Also, I will make an assessment on the effect of El Niño in the tropical cyclone seasons in the Southern Hemisphere.
I know that here in the forum there are many who have tracked the Southern Hemisphere for many years, do you know tropical cyclones that seemed to have increase in intensity because they have moved over warmer waters or have increased rapidly in intensity due to very warm waters? I have my own suspects. Monica, Ingrid, Larry, Erika, and others. It will be great if I could get your help.

Get in touch with RSMC Nadi if you want their BT. They will send out seasons data (They offered to to me anyway) but haven't got the whole thing in one file. They are putting it on the net but may not have done it in time.
The BT files aren't actually out on Monica or Larry yet so if you need them before then I'd suggest an e-mail to TCWCs Darwin and Brisbane.
La Reunion storms are most complete in the BT post about 1990 but you'll need to look at the op manual for some of the storm codes (Not too difficult to work out though).
