One More Hurricane Season with Gov Kathleen Blanco

#1 Postby Berwick Bay » Thu May 17, 2007 7:09 pm

2007 Gov's Campaign is well underway, but Gov Blanco is not a candidate for reelection this year. This is largely due to the lack of leadership displayed by the Gov. after the two major strikes in Louisiana in '05. Indeed, it looked as if the Gov almost had some sort of a breakdown. Response to the hurricane threat is sure to be a dominant issue this year, and the campaign will be at its peak in Aug and Sept approaching the primary of late Sept (I think). Gov. Blanco will still be at the helm, and it will be up to her to provide the leadership and resources needed to get through another potential deadly season in Louisiana.

haha

Bus drivers haven’t yet been hired for the 25,000 people expected to need rides, and not enough shelters have been nailed down.

The plan is to take nearly 80,000 people to shelters around the state, and another 14,000 to neighboring states.

But even then, the state may need another 140,000 beds if another major storm hits south Louisiana.

We cannot wait until she is gone, believe me. I still can't believe people voted for her in the first place. In other news, Ray Nagin has an 8% approval rating, according to Ch 6 in New Orleans. By race, 16% of blacks have a favorable view, while 2% of whites have a favorable view. I've never seen anything that low, but I'm not suprised.
