I am hearing the show by Winnamp. For those who can't hear the show, the first part has been dedicated to the controversy of NOAA and Bill Proenza (The National Hurricane Center Director) about funding for NHC and a proposed changing the name of NHC to NOAA Hurricane Center.

Mike is playing an interesting interview with Chris Landsea of NOAA.He says that the formation of Andrea doesn't tell anything about what the whole 2007 season will be.

I finally got the winnamp to work. It will not load by itself on the wmv. I had to go here http://tools.veloc-it.com/tabid/58/grm2 ... fault.aspx and download that file to allow windows media player to recognize it.

Andrea may not be able to tell you about the "whole" of the rest of the season. However, I think that Andrea and the persistent cloudiness and moisture in the Bahamas are giving us a foretaste of the "early" season--June and July. In many ways we really have two hurricane seasons every year, June-July and Aug-Oct. They can and often are totally unrelated. Often you can have an active June-July with three or four storms and then a relatively quiet main part of the season in Aug-Oct. --or vice versa. This year I look for an active June-July based in large part on Andrea and the persistent cloudiness in the Bahamas. For the main part of the season I look for development in the Lower Bahamas and Eastern Carribean, with storms moving generally west then turning north toward the Gulf. Highest percentage for landfall at New Iberia, La. and Pascagoula, Miss.
