DNS problems still exist. Only way in is through your isp address. Your link to chatroom is dead (probably because link is http). For me I still can't use java in chat (hasn't worked in some time). Could be my provider (earthlink) but I have no problem with any other site (I have hundreds).

A quick fix to the links would be using the ip address of that link until the dns problem is solved. Sure enough all your links are html.

OuterBanker, I don't have to use the ISP address to get in. Maybe try a disk cleanup and clear out your cookies, then try again. And I just checked the chatroom link again and it works fine. There were a ton of people in chat last night and there's some in there now. Many of them came in through Java. I don't know what the problem is, but you're not the only one who has had problems getting in.

I couldn't use the Java link on this computer for well over a year. My Java was screwed up though. I couldn't run a NWS radar loop on here either. I would have to go on my other desktop or laptop to do anything with Java. I tried updating, uninstalling, re-installing, etc. Nothing worked. The other day, I got a different kind of upgrade notification and I did it. Now everything Java works again! So it could just be something with your computer.

I would download mIRC though. It's a much better chat program. http://www.mirc.com/

Edit: I just saw in another thread that you were having trouble with mIRC too. hmmm - no trouble with mIRC here and there's a bot that sits there 24/7. I wonder what the problem is. :?:

DNS has been OK since last night. You may have cached data. Try doing:

Code: Select all

ipconfig /flushdns

in a command window. That may fix the issue.

flushed dns yesterday as well as now. No good. Obvious url to ip problems. I've got six puters, I'll try others.

Huh ... the only other thing that occurs to me is maybe some DNS server upstream from you is caching longer than it should.

Back for a few. Tks x-y-no It's gotta be upstream somewhere. Could you email me the ip address of your links (especially chat). Something along the line obviously is not converting your url to ip.

Good timing. I fear the server is going to be severely tested this season, much like 2005....

Marshall is already aware of this. Probably misconfigured permissions on the avatar directory.

So what was the cause of the 2nd (or 3rd, 4th) outage?? I kept getting "DNS lookup error" Fri and Sat AM. I guess it might have been my computer going to an old IP address but I couldn't clear it out. Now I'm OK.
