Well we have had really nothing from Barry up here in the panhandle but rough surf. Went out to the pier early this morning, surf is glassy and about solid chest high.

Overall rainfall will below 6" in most areas from Barry, we could use another identical storm in a week or so.

There was some flooding in Pinellas due to the precipitation rate.

The ground is hard and can't absorb the water quick enough.

Every cloud has a silver lining. Barry was just strong enough to point up problem areas for the coming season. We haven't had to deal with storm runoff in a long time so the short deluge we had this morning should give the utility crews some idea where the drainage is clogged with brush.

We've had a nice steady rain all day in Savannah - we needed this sooo bad! As was said before, we could use a repeat in about a week.

Previously, I posted the calm in the GOM last evening on Anna Maria Island.

Here is the GOM from this moring, with the high tide still a few hours away. The Gulf certainly wasn't as angry as during Charley-France-Jeanne-Iven, etc., but it was a very confused sea:

Suddenly, it started clearing as wimpy little Barry made landfall just a bit north of us:

As is the norm out here, there was quite a bit of flooding, especially at high tide. This is a shot of one of the canals that spilled over on to one of the major island roads. Guess I better rinse the saltwater off from underneath the car.

It was a fun storm. Very little damage, didn't lose power, great wave action, very beneficial rain. And hopefully, some newbies realize how dangerous it would be to stay out here on the barrier island in a REAL storm.

My father in Jax reports 3.8 inches of rain from Barry. There is still a heavy mist, but not going to add too much more to the total.

Didn't seem to be much rain where I was. Now, as I feared, there's a huge area of dry air behind Barry that will probably sit over us for two weeks, and we'll be all dried out again. I think the rainy season is going to be delayed yet again, if it ever truly arrives at all.
