I was thinking. This might end up being a good thing. This is exposing weaknesses in the grid under mild conditions. It might help FPL by exposing weak spots.

As of July 6,my new address will be 720 miles away from here, and well inland..I'll be joining the legion of Floridians high-tailing out of here, away from this crazy state..and cane related problems.
The only drawback is the lack of cuban coffee and pastelitos..guess I'll have to wait for care packages...

Barry's rains good for parched South Florida, but many left without power

By Elizabeth Baier
South Florida Sun-Sentinel
Posted June 3 2007

Tropical Storm Barry dumped much-needed rain on wide swaths of Florida on Saturday, alleviating some of the arid conditions that had fueled wildfires around the drought-parched state and drained Lake Okeechobee to its lowest recorded level.

But the storm, which formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Friday, the first day of the 2007 hurricane season, was not wholly benevolent. It knocked out power to thousands of South Florida homes, opened up a hole on busy.....

My zip is 33066 and the reason is weather related outages... yayyyyyyyyy

Hi! You're just west of me. My power went off and on and browned out a bunch of times but nothing sustained. My first thought was "Just great - this with only a little rain!? Wait till a real storm comes. FPL didn't upgrade anything after Wilma despite all their hype."

I drove West on Sample around 3:00PM and all the traffic lights were out from Powerline to 441. And not an intersection had a cop directing traffic - which was a real mess.

Welcome to Hurricane season!
