After a full week missing from the forum, I'm back. I was missing because I had to work without having access to internet. A team of 10 Chinese Meteorologists from the Chinese Meteorological Agency were sent to the US by the Chinese government to train for 4 months. The University of Maryland was in charge of their training and the university contacted various persons around the US to provide some of the training in different fields. One of these persons was John Toohey Morales, TV Meteorologist for Telemundo 51 Miami and president and founder of ClimaData, a company that provides weather services. I work for ClimaData and John asked me to be his assistant in this assignment. John's assignment was to teach the Chinese Meteorologists the private sector of the weather enterprise in the US. Like you are going to see in some of the pictures, the Chinese Meteorologists were taken to Bayside, a tour of the Millionaire houses in the Island Queen Cruise, Los Ranchos Restaurant, a Tour of Miami, Casa Juancho (Restaurant), a tour of NBC6 / T51, the Everglades, various presentations about the private sector in weather by Walter Lyons, Lee Branscome, Michael Steinberg (VP AccuWeather), Sean Potter (President NCIM), Jim Block (DNT Weather), then, a presentation in the IHRC at FIU, a tour of the NHC (I met Bill Proenza [picture!!!]), Dinner at Disaster Survival House, presentation by Baron Services, lunch at Makotos Seafood and Steakhouse, presentation at ENSCO, a full day in Disney World with VIP guides, fly to Atlanta, visit the Weather Channel, and then on Saturday, June 2, back to Miami flying above Barry.
It was an amazinf experience. The Chinese wanted to learn about everything including Meteorology, Culture, History, and a lot more. I met very famous people in the Meteorological world. I was able to see and learn from small weather companies and from giant weather companies. Meeting Bill Proenza was amazing. He gave a small talk to our delegation. Going to the TWC was outstanding. It was the same day and time as Barry was upgraded, therefore that was the talk inside. By the way, like you can see in one of the pictures, it seems Andrea has been upgrated to a 50-mph storm and it may be shown at the post-season report. In the picture of the Everglades, where John Morales is standing is supposed to be covered by water. In the last picture you can see a condiminium complex that still has the blue tarps from Hurricane Wilma.
