Hello again. I wanted to remind everyone that Hurricanetrack.com has links to live weather data from state of the art weather equipment along the MS coast. Lowe's helped to fund this project last August and it has been rolling ever since. I am back in MS working our 50 Lowe's store tour and hope to see some S2k folks at any of the locations (see link on my site for complete schedule).
Anyhow- the weather data is updated every 60 seconds and both sites, one is in BSL while the other is in Pascagoula, have a web cam. We are archiving the data both on the machines in MS as well as our web server. So....the next time a hurricane hits there, we will have tons of great high-frequency weather data from reliable equipment. Note too that our sensors meet or exceed the 10 meter standard for wind speed. Just wanted to remind folks about these stations and invite anyone who wishes to bookmark the pages since they will be up for many years to come.

I'll be at the Pascagoula Lowe's tomorro from 10 until 2 and then the D'Iberville store from 4 until 7. Gulfport and Waveland are on Thursday.

Dang it, I'm on call tomorrow and not supposed to leave the house....hmmmm I might just sneak off for a few minute and come meet you at the Pascagoula store. Thanks for the info on the weather data, didn't know about it. I'll make sure I wear my Storm2K T-shirt...see if you can pick me out...rofl!!

PS I just looked at the site, the weather cam is directly across the street from the Court House where I stayed during Katrina where we had five feet of water inside.

Lowe's tour
Saw Mary today in Pascagoula. Awesome to meet people who we know about only online.
We used to visit 12 to 14 stores a year- now it's 50! My, what have I gotten myself in to??? Was I crazy when I suggested that? Truthfully, it has been more fun than work. I absolutely love talking to people about hurricanes and when I can show them something that will help save their house- then it's a success. I also am able to pull up info on the Internet and point out local links to NWS offices, emergency management info, etc. It's all about learning and I learn to from the people who lived through these disasters. Even though I too was here for Katrina, I don't live here and I don't see it every day. Getting out and meeting people face to face is just awesome. I meet all types- most (99%) are kind and appreciative. Once in a while some one will not be in a good mood and grouch at me. Oh well.
Hope to see more Storm2k folks along the journey!

Hey Mark,
It was really nice to meet you in person and wished I had time to show you around Pascagoula. Wish we would have had more time to talk but I know you were "working" hehehehehe I'll let you know if that reporter/photographer from the MS Press puts a story and a pic of us in the local paper. He seems to be a really nice guy and we have met before several times with my on going "saga".... Robi was interested in those "panels/shutters" that you were showing and he is going to run by Lowes and check out the prices, etc. We just put $7,000.00 worth of new windows in this house and they are guaranteed not to break, tell me another one, any way, we would rather be safe that sorry and I would love to have the "shutters" up and it not be so dad gum dark inside, I hate that part!
