True enough - hurricanes are similar to lightning - they are beautiful to see in a photograph (as in a hurricane as seen from space), but, I'd sure never want to encounter one.
I knew a student several years ago who was struck by lightning just after leaving her school building - she has since undergone four surgeries to correct internal damage, so...
Nature is beautiful in it's many forms, but, aside from flowers ('cept if one as a bee inside when you put your nose into it - ha), most forms of nature require that they be feared, in a respectful sense.
I was stung by a scorpion many years ago, and, know what that was like (I came very close to not being here today, that's for sure) - and, another good example was the "baby" mountain lion brought to a children's camp last year. It looked gentle enough for us to pet, but, as the handler said, even at that young age, it had enough strength to dislocate someone's arm.
I love nature, but, as Steve Irwin would say, it must be respected for what it is...
