"Opposition to National Hurricane Center Director Bill Proenza grew into a full-blown mutiny late Thursday when 23 staffers signed a petition calling for his ouster."

WHAT???? In the article, it mentions that even his secratary signed to have him resign. Is he that difficult a boss?

i dealt with bill proenza on a professional basis in the late 90s..this comes as a real surprise because he was nothing if not politically astute...he and general kelly saved the nws/key west and the southern regional office in fort worth from closure...i dont understand how and why he chose the "big stick" this time????...it is so atypical of his earlier moves...that said, sadly, i believe his days are numbered. first, i believe, he will be marginalized and the next director will move in as asst director(with most of the operational and personnel responsibility), followed at a decent interval by a dead end transfer.....oh to be a fly on the wall, in order to understand how he screwed the pooch with senior nhc staff...fyi...he, at one time, was spoken of rather well by nws/srh personnel.......well, FWIW, lets get it over with quickly to avoid a crisis of public confidence in the nhc......rich
