I have been through depression and stuff, but I can't imagine feeling so horrible to cause you to do something like that. I will keep his family in my prayers...

Um, I don't really understand why he would call the police and then shoot himself as they enter.

I guess to get their attention?

A high number of suicides do that. It's so they don't just stay there and rot without anyone finding them.

Everything I read said it was an anonymous call. Have they determined he was the one who called?

Very sad and a huge loss to his family, his station and his community. RIP.

Oh yeah! I read it was anonymous but for some reason assumed it as him. How stupid of me!!

I knew Jason Pool from WLUK FOX 11 in Green Bay, WI. very well. It was a very sad day for all that knew him. I send my deepest sympathies to those who knew John. I know what they are going through.

I'm very sorry to hear that, caneman - I'm sure I've seen him, during my many trips to Sebring over the past few years (for those who aren't familiar - Sebring is in the southeastern part of the Tampa Bay area)...

Just yesterday, I was telling someone that very thing - those who are at most risk are those who do not express themselves, or, do not show any form of anger (as in venting), even though they are in turmoil on the inside...

Sadly, this is the third media person that I've heard of doing such a thing to themselves (over the years) - as my old psychology textbook asked, "Would you consider a job very stressful if the employee was required to look cheerful all of the time?"

May God have mery on his soul...

Please don't needlessly bump up months-old threads.

"Needlessly" is very subjective. Give the guy a break, he just joined and wasn't around in April to comment. Besides, there is nothing wrong with adding a comment to an old thread if there is something pertinent to add. It happens all the time.

You can see the date of the thread listed on the topics page. If you see it's an old thread, then it's real simple: don't open it to read comments.

I agree that this was not needlessly bumped up.

However, when I look at the list of topic in the forum I DO NOT see the date that the thread was started only the last posting to that thread.

I actually saw this thread yesterday and did not initially realize that it was from April until I went to the WFLA page and read about Mr. Winter and the comments that they showed and then finally realized he had passed three months ago.

If you are seeing the date a thread was started on the front page (I am referring to the Talkin Tropics page) please let me know. I will save ME from reading old threads not realizing when they were started. I generally skip to the last posting anyway so I don't usually know when a thread was stared especially when it has multiple pages.
