Google Earth overlays for the Atlantic basin

#1 Postby Chris_in_Tampa » Wed Aug 01, 2007 12:29 pm

I've been working for the last week on creating overlays for Google Earth. I have a huge amount of overlays available.

Most all of the products on the CIMSS site related to the Atlantic are available, such as dust, shear, wind, steering, and most everything else. What might be a bit unique is that I have created image loops that can be played in Google Earth.

The file to open in Google Earth:

There is a lot of NOAA imagery, Quikscat data, lots of SST data, products from TAFB, such as surface analysis, genesis products, and a whole bunch of satellite images. Let me know of any sites you know of that might have imagery that works well as overlays. Not all images will work as overlays for Google Earth, but I'll check out any links people have.

I still have more overlays to add. Also in there is the latest model data for active storms in the Atlantic. Look for the "Latest Model Data" folder and you will find two network links.

Here are some screenshots I took several days ago:

Google Earth is good for taking screenshots. Then you can post the image to the message board.
