I'm sorry but I enjoy reading this.

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I can understand that you don't like for good reasons, tropical cyclones. But the truth is that some people like the science and seeing these amazing storms. For century's these storms have been around, with cycles have destroyed towns, city's along the coastlines of the United states. It is a hard fact that storms will be here for long after I'm dead. In people will get hurt in them. I don't like seeing people getting hurt, I've seen enough of that. But just like any thing else there is going to be fans of said topic. Is it wrong to enjoy the amazing formation of tropical cyclones? This board tells me a big NO.

I'm sorry for anything that happen to you and yours. I hope everything gets better for you. I don't mean to come off or sound mean or like I don't have any heart.

As a lurker, it seriously looks like the original poster is trying to bait people with that post...I have watched this come season after season on this board (3 so far that I've been lurking)...and it comes up on so many threads....and then people start threads knowing what the outcome will be:

We all know this board has two groups of people: those who enjoy tropical storms, and those who don't. Of those who do enjoy tropical storms, some of them enjoy them benignly, and a portion enjoys destruction and want to see category 5 hurricane hit land.

None of those groups are wrong. We like to act astonished that people would love to see destruction, but its part of human nature - we love watching the drama and destruction because humanity will always have a morbid fascination with death and destruction. Everyone has a part of them that enjoys destruction because we like watching it - with the caveat being that we don't like it when its in our backyard...

I agree Journey.
I'm not going to say which group I fall into. And it's not like their wishing is going to alter the atmosphere and create a storm.I understand the effects of hurricanes, but if one is going to be angry,be angry at the warm gulf temperatures or atmospheric conditions, they are going to affect hurricanes, not someone's wishing for a storm

I don't think Stormcenter is baiting anybody. For those of us just trying to pay the bills and get by, every single storm is a horrible short term even and a potential long term nightmare. First, we miss work, and then the insurance companies get us a few months later. Sure, there will always be storms. But we have to accept that 2005 was an annamolly. Now if the insurance companies could acknoledge that too, and have it reflect in our rates we could be a little less aggitated when a storm approches.
Yes, the science of this is fascinating. But hurricanes are just one small part of the overall science of weather.

No baiting here just stating the way I feel after Katrina and Rita. Some of my family members were affected by both storms.

Oh and just to clarify on my previous post I meant I agreed with his latter part about there not being a right and a wrong in wanting storms.. I'm sure if I were in that situation and it were August I'd also be saying I'm glad to see nothing

Actually it is baiting whether its intentional or not - not that I think anyone cares nor did anyone take the bait. Your stating something that will get a response from the majority of people who want to see the death and destruction of a major hurricane. I guess we have a bit of a hawthorn effect going on since once someone pointed out what was going on, people acted accordingly by not responding.

Not that I care, of course, just had to point it out ;) I'll have to try this out the next time I see one of these threads form: watch one where no one points out whats going on at the beginning and watch one where someone does, and see how the responses change.
