New storm on the horizon??

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Looking pretty good this morning. As upper level winds decrease this week, this area really may have a shot. An early morning look today already shows a broad "turning" to the clouds. If this keeps up, we may already have another Invest today or tomorrow....IMO.

Wow. Woke up to that wave. I guess nothing much will come of it. According to most models. I'd be surprised if the CMC model is even close to right.

Agreed--no sign of a surface circulation from the Quikscat. Resolution of Quikscat not high though if there was a small one around 55W/22N--which is where the highest vorticity is located. That is where the highest winds are too. Clouds appear to have a spiral shape around that point. In a couple hours will be well worth to examine visible loop to see if one can detect a circulation. Anyway, I think we might have an invest by tonight. At present rates of development, perhaps a depression within 48 hours.

They were pretty good on Dean, so I'm Saying that it very well could develop, and who knows CMC could be right.

Anyone thinking on cancelling the season!!!

Something that grabs my attention is the position of that frontal boundary. Pretty far to the north which indication a well-establised ridge of high pressure.

It's not only the CMC any longer. The NOGAPS, MM5 and NAM also try to develop something out of this as it approaches the Bahamas. Both the GFS and UKMET still have it as an open wave at that point. The NHC is still mentioning slow development is possible after the upper level winds get favorable this week.
