2007 Already a Banner Season!

#1 Postby Downdraft » Wed Sep 12, 2007 6:29 pm

The fact that we had two long tracking intense tropical cyclones that stayed with the range of recon will prove an invaluable tool when the data is researched around the country long after the trade winds have shifted. From a research point of view 2007 has been one of the best years possible so far. It is not often we get to study intense cyclones for such a long period of time. Great year!

I'm sure we'll learn alot from Dean and Felix especially.

Sadly alot of people lost their lives.

It's been a fun and good year to watch and study... but it has brought some unfortunate and horrible circumstances on places where the recovery time is going to take many years.

True, but at least the storms that caused the death and destruction have provided us with valuable research that we can use to perhaps curb loss of life from future storms. A silver lining I guess.

Its always a Catch22 when we fly storms. We fly for the research and saving lives, but people always pass away during these storms.

If TD8 gets named Ingrid, we will be matching last year on named storms. Since I think 96L (the east coast system in late August) was briefly a TS, we will have had 10 storms - already at a normal season.

Two category 5 landfalls on rare low-tracks was an event alone.
